About Us
Our Mission
M3C is a consortium of business experts who serve new and existing Owners of Underutilized Properties and new and existing Mission‑Aligned, Community‑Driven For‑Profit Enterprises. By providing practical business education, capacity‑building resources, and direction that strengthen community resilience, advance equitable access, and support sustainable economic development.
Our Story
M3C Opportunity Zone, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that began in 2019 when a group of business experts came together to support families facing complex decisions about inherited, underutilized, or historically significant properties. As our work expanded, it became clear that two groups needed early‑stage technical assistance and capacity‑building support: new and existing Owners of Underutilized Properties and new and existing Mission‑Aligned, Community‑Driven For‑Profit Enterprises.
Before M3C became a nonprofit organization, a larger brainstorming committee of seasoned professionals — most now retired — spent several years developing and refining the early concepts that would become the M3C model. Collectively, they brought more than 200 years of experience across planning, land stewardship, business operations, community engagement, and project development.
Today, M3C is formally led by three founders, who continue to carry forward the insight, structure, and community‑informed principles shaped during those early years.
Why We Exist
Many families and business owners inherit or acquire underutilized properties or community‑focused business ideas without access to the planning, organizational, or technical expertise needed to move forward. These gaps can stall progress, limit opportunity, and weaken long‑term community resilience.
M3C exists to close these gaps by providing early‑stage technical assistance and capacity‑building support that help new and existing Owners of Underutilized Properties and new and existing Mission‑Aligned, Community‑Driven For‑Profit Enterprises make informed decisions, strengthen stewardship, and pursue sustainable, community‑benefit development.
